Fresh 100 Quilt

By May 10, 2017July 25th, 2019blog

I cannot tell you how excited I was to FINALLY get this one back from the long armers! I started this back on August 17th 2016 (read all about it here) as part of the #100days100blocks sew along on Instagram. A totally Bonnie and Camille quilt (well except for 6 blocks) using Hello Darling, Miss Kate and a tiny bit of Vintage Picnic.

I managed to post my block EVERY DAY and I didn’t miss one. WHEW. I posted the blocks on my @said_with_love instagram account as I didn’t want to force all my normal followers to see these blocks every.single.day.  I also posted a saying each day so as to make things a little more interesting!

I finished the quilt top on November 24th and it was HUGE! Thinking about how I wanted to quilt it and I realised that it was time to do a proper double sided quilt. But before I get to that… here is the 100 blocks quilt!

Getting pictures of this quilt was lots of fun… my #husbandsholdingquilts @thefabrichusband isn’t quite 6 foot tall and there was no way he could hold it up out of the dirt AND hold the width… so we devised some tricky ways of getting pics of it!

Ok, so even then it wasn’t quite out of the dirt…… 🙂

Back to the doublesided bit…. I had been making the Fresh pattern from the Simply Retro book by Camille Roskelly, also in Hello Darling, and it was even larger than my 100 blocks quilt! It made the perfect ‘back’ to my doublesided Fresh100 quilt!

It was a beautiful autumn day here in Australia and that branch was just calling out to be used as a quilt prop! (so much easier on my husband’s arms!)

I love this one so much… it is going to be our summer quilt as it has a very thin batting (thank goodness I didn’t get a thick batting in there as it is VERY heavy as it is!) and I can’t wait to have it on our bed. In the meantime it will stay on the guest bed so I can just drool over it every day 🙂

That pics gives you a bit of a close up of the quilting with a meandering flower motif. It is cute!

Ok. One more picture 🙂

Have you ever done a totally double sided quilt?

This is part of my Quarter 2 Finish Along for #2017FAL #2017FALSWL

  • I have done a double sided quilt before, but more like a nicely pieced backing and not a truly double-sided quilt like this. It’s stunning! Congratulations on keeping up with the 100Blocks, that is a daunting task to think about for sure. 🙂

Thanks Yvonne! 🙂 I am so happy with it… I keep going into the guest bedroom just to look at it and pat it!! 🙂

  • I love that it’s double sided and uses fabrics from the same designers on both sides!! It’s a lovely quilt, and has such a happy vibe. Great job!

Thanks Beth – I love double sided quilts! Am planning more as I type! Such a great way to be able to make ALL the quilt tops yet only get half the number of quilts (coz, they seem to be starting to pile up over here!!)
