The end of 2024 really did get away from me, so apologies for posting this so late! But we have released all the rest of the blocks for A Year Of Hearts as well as two of the three layouts!
First up we had the Quilt Barn, well, because we just HAD to have a quilt barn in the year of hearts! This was November’s block.
But as the end of the year was fast approaching and I wanted people to have the opportunity to finish a quilt top before the end of the year, I also released December’s block, which was of course, a Christmas Tree! Complete with felt heart tinsel and some optional sweet background hearts.
But that wasn’t all! I had more surprises up my sleeve with the release of TWO more bonus blocks. The first was this heart in a heart block.
And the second bonus block is the Heart Cabin block.
That gave us 22 different blocks that could be made if you made all of the letters and the large size mug block too!
Which allowed us to also release the first two of three layouts! The first was a simple sashed layout, with the cornerstones being little pieced hearts (of course!). I have quilted and bound mine and we managed a quick photo shoot between family events and heat waves!
I never actually like the look of white and cream in the scrappy backgrounds when viewed outdoors, however looking at the quilt inside the house you don’t notice the difference in value anywhere near as much!
The second layout I am not going to make up, I just have this mockup of it and I have called this the Letter Layout. Just a simple row by row of blocks with the letters (for the word Heart or Maker) read down one of the columns.
This layout required 15 blocks plus the letters, hence those extra bonus blocks! I have seen a few people make this layout so far including tweaking the word to be a name and a Maori word!
I am still working on the final layout and also putting all the blocks into a single purchasable pattern. At the moment each of the blocks are available individually to purchase.
Thank you to everyone who participated in A Year Of Hearts, made a block, made a few, made a quilt (or two) and enjoyed being part of spreading the love around in 2024!
