Charm Collective 9 – Diamonds are the Charm

By September 5, 2019October 2nd, 2019blog, Charm Collective

This quilt was inspired by a stained glass door in our beautiful country farmhouse! I have sat looking at this coloured glass so many times thinking it would make a lovely quilt pattern, so I finally created it!

I used Bonnie & Camille fabrics for my version, so I didn’t stick with the orange that is in the original inspiration!!

I placed my fabrics to echo a larger diamond around the quilt too, however as you can see by some of my tester’s versions below, different fabrics give a different look to this quilt! (thank you Denise and Robin Sue!)

And I am loving the picture from Denise on the left with the sun behind the quilt top giving it a Stained Glass effect! Perfect for this quilt! (and we can pause for a moment and drool over all that beautiful Alison Glass fabrics!)

The quilt uses two charm packs (5″ squares) and either some yardage or a layer cake for the diamonds.

I classify this as a confident beginner quilt, there isn’t anything very hard in it, however the diamonds do require a bit of marking and pinning when sewing.

I quilted mine with an allover leafy design

Diamonds are the Charm is a fun pattern to make – and a great chance to use up a Layer Cake and charm packs from the same line or designer!

Hope you enjoy this month’s Charm Collective quilt pattern! Only three more patterns to go until the end of the year!

This finish is part of my Q3 2019 Finishalong
