One of the optional things to do at our recent Penola Patchwork Party quilt retreat was to grab a ziplock bag with fabric to make a 12.5″ churn dash block.
I had pre-cut all the fabrics for the sections of the Churn Dash so that people could just grab a little baggy with the fabrics and make up the block.
I also had a Bloc Loc Half Square Triangle ruler if people wanted to use that to trim their HSTs to size, as well as an air erasable pen to mark the HSTs.
So many of the Penola Patchwork Party participants grabbed a bag (or two or three!) to make up some blocks, so I only had a couple to finish when I got home. Before I knew it, I had a pile of blocks trimmed and ready to sew.
Before long they were all sewn up into rows
And then voila! A quilt top is done!
This will need to wait for a little bit until I can quilt it, and then it will be donated to charity. I might research if there is any in Penola that could put a quilt to good use.
