Lazy Summer Quilt Camp Week 1

By July 8, 2026July 17th, 2026blog

I have been joining in posting on Instgram with @devotedquilter in the #lazysummerquiltcamp .

I have laughingly called it the #cozywinterquiltin for me here in the Southern Hemisphere!

These are the list of prompts for the month of July if you want to join in on Instagram!

The first week has been full of great things shown by everyone. Here is my first week

Check our my Instagram post for my five things about me (nothing terribly exciting!)

Most Used Quilt is my Hearty Patches quilt made with Shoreline fabric by Camille Roskelley. It sits on our couch and I snuggle under it most evenings. And the quilt ladder behind me has quite a few more!

Texture for Days – there are so many quilts I have longarmed that have amazing texture, but the most recent was the Circle of Peace sewalong log cabin quilt. The swirls of the Marmalade quilting design looked fab!

Loved One’s Favourite – a friend recently sent me a picture of her quilt all ready to take to hospital with her. She wanted to take her quilty hug with her! This touched me so much.

This is what the quilt looks like out of the bag! It is Boxes and Crosses pattern by Emma Jean Jansen.

Sewing Along – well you know how I love to host a good sewalong! So many good sewalongs over the years, the current one is Show & Tell Quilt and we are well into the sewalong.

Beautiful Blues – ahhhh, my love of blue quilts is strong! And when Nantucket Summer came out (then Shoreline and now Blueprint!) I have been making ALL the blue quilts!

Hideaway is the front side of this quilt

Patchwork Swoon is the backside of it! So much fabric, so many gorgeous quilt patterns and therefore, quite a few double sided quilts!

Biggest Quilt is probably my Tula Butterfly quilt I made for my youngest niece for Xmas 2017. It was a behemoth and I quilted it on my domestic Janome. This was the quilt that made me decide I NEEDED a longarm!

I hope you go and check out the hashtag to see some of the other people’s posts and follow @devotedquilter to get the reminder prompts each day.

    Hi there,
Look forward to receiving your newsletter’s, but notice you seem to keep suggesting we look at your Instagram account. Not much use for those of us who do not do Instagram!!! Any ideas?

Hi Meg, I haven’t put that much more information on Instagram, you aren’t missing out too much, so don’t stress. It is an Instagram prompt that @devotedquilter was doing, hence me referring to Instagram in these blog posts. But I wanted to share a bit with my blog followers and newsletter followers too.
