I started this easy, fun quilt whilst I was at my folks (read about the start of the project here) and once I was home I was able to get a backing sorted and it was added to the ‘to-be-quilted- queue. Which has grown to be quite huge! (12 quilts at the beginning of August!)

The blocks are fun and can be made from charm squares, layer cakes or scrappy from your stash! I had quite a few dessert roll strips (5″ x width of fabric) that worked beautifully as well.
The quilt top came together during a sew day once I was back home. Nothing like concentrated time sewing up a storm with friends, food and lots of giggles!

Finally it got to Lily the Longarm! Time to find thread to match top and bottom (and yes, I do use different colour threads most times! Thankfully Lily’s tension is pretty good and rarely see the top or bottom colours showing through.

I chose a new pattern called Verdant which is a sort of leaf design, but I thought would give some lovely movement to the quilt without being flowery or christmassy. The fabrics are actually a christmas line, but not overly so.

I LOVE how it stitched out and as I left it quite large, it quilted out reasonably quickly and well.

Then it was time for binding. I had made the binding the same day I put the quilt top together and selected the backing, so it was all ready and waiting for me…. on my Mary Christmas binding baby!

Finally a nice day and an available @thefabrichusband and we got an outdoor photo!

Definitely a quilt block I will make again, and the quilt can be made as large or as small as you like, or your fabric allows! I had enough fabrics that the ‘pinwheel’ had the same fabrics in all four spots, however there are two blocks there that I had to go a bit scrappier, can you spot them?

Let me know in the comments if you have made a potato chip block / quilt before? I think they are fast becoming my go to quick quilt block!

I love the quilt Anne. The quilting is fantastic. Great work by Ian too.
Thanks Janet! The quilting design has become a new favourite!!
