Join us on Sew A Jelly Roll Day, Saturday September 16th, for a fun day sewing up a storm with one of my favourite precuts – the jelly roll!

Moda Fabrics started this fun day a few years ago, calling it Project Jelly Roll, and they release some fun jelly roll patterns and encourage shops around the globe to use jelly rolls and have a fabulous day!

A jelly roll is 40 strips that are 2.5″ wide by the full width of fabric (approx 44″) – Moda has the trademark for the name ‘jelly roll’ so other manufacturers call them rolie polies, strip packs, roll ups. We love the original Moda jelly rolls!

How the Sew Along Will Work

This sewalong will be run over on our Facebook Sewalong and Quilting Group (please join us over there and make sure you answer all three of the membership questions!).

Purchase the PDF pattern from me (use the code sliderblog  as you checkout to get a special introductory price until the 16th).

We are going to start on the Saturday morning around 10am AEST (which is still Friday afternoon / evening in the US) and there will be a mix of live videos, recorded videos, lots of posts over the day and into the Sunday as well.

AND some fun prizes in the mix too!

Supplies

Purchase the PDF Rainbow Slider Quilt pattern.

The pattern has been written for a Jelly Roll OR Fat Eighths…. I have been finding that F8 Bundles are a great way to get a whole collection without spending on a full Fat Quarter bundle, but there aren’t a lot of patterns out there for them, so this one can use either Fat Eighths (9″ x 21″) or Jelly Rolls (2.5″ x width of fabric)

You will need a collection that has 5 different colour ways (to get that ‘rainbow’ gradient).

And if using a jelly roll, you will need an extra 8 strips (or more if there are strips in the jelly roll that you won’t be using.

And you will need 34 Fat Eighths across 5 colour ways.

FYI I used Rainbow Sherbet by Sariditty by Moda if you want, you can grab one of those as they hit the shops in the next few weeks! I am *hoping* to get some more soon so keep an eye out!
