Fat Quarter Shop has put out another gorgeous Classic & Vintage Quilt Block called the Carolina Lily.
I dove into my Figtree stash to find a beautiful green (from Aloha) and coordinating red (from Hazel & Plum) for this block…. and Moda Bella 60 (ivory) for the background.
The block pattern is free and if you want a pattern to make a full size quilt, a reasonably priced pattern is available!
A mixture of piecing as well as some bias applique work (thank goodness I did @twocatquilts class at AQC (Australian Quilt Convention) last year all about how to apply thin bias binding strips as applique!)
I will quilt the stems down (at the moment they are just glued and ironed on) when I make this beautiful block into a cushion.
The piecing was quick, the applique not that much longer, so you could make a quilt reasonably quickly!
As usual the chickens were very interested in my photo shoot around the garden.
And one last one….. it really is such a pretty block! Head on over to the Fat Quarter Shop blog today to find out more about the block and pattern!
And don’t forget that Fat Quarter Shop has awesome daily deals (well, except if you are paying in Australian dollars at the moment! doh!).
Hope you enjoy seeing all the other gorgeous blocks made by the other bloggers – check out #carolinalilyblock on Instagram.
