Well it seems this year I have splurged for myself quite a few Advent Calendars! A few for work and a few for me, a lovely friend gave me one and my parent’s surprised me with one as well! (they might all know how much I love them!)
First up the Missouri Star Quilt Co Christmas Box by Jenny – I have been getting this one for a few years now and it is always filled with some really great items and some things I have never seen before and didn’t know I needed!
Here is the preview video of what the box looks like! And it is a HUGE box!
And this year I decided I would open up a week at a time and show you all! It is a spoiler alert though, I am opening them up before the actual days, so if you have this advent calendar DO NOT WATCH if you don’t want the surprises ruined! Week 1 video is live now
The other weeks will go up onto YouTube each Sunday, so head on over to my YouTube channel to subscribe so you don’t miss any!
I was having a bit of a down day the day I had to video this… and literally by the time I had opened the lid I was laughing and giggling like a kid on Christmas Morning!
This is why I love advent calendars so much…. they spread out the joy and delight of Christmas. And in a month when there is SO much going on with end of school, family occasions, end of a very busy work year, admin and paperwork obligations etc, spending 5 minutes opening up some beautiful gifts is some quiet time for me.
Ok, so which other advent calendars have I got?
I also got the Aurifil calendar Le Alpi – it is their first year of creating an advent calendar and I couldn’t resist, you know how much I love Aurifil Threads!
Each day in my stories over on Instagram @said_with_love I am opening each little drawer, but I have also created a video on YouTube showing all the days…. those cute little drawers were just too easy to open to stop at one!
Next up is the Fibresmith Maze and Vale screen printed fabric 25 day advent calendar and OMG Leslie has created some beautiful fabrics for us!
My plan with these is to add them to a gorgeous quilt kit I purchased at AQC of the Maze and Vale fabrics to make it a little larger…. or maybe I will make some smaller projects, they are just so gorgeous!
The next advent calendar was a complete surprise! My quilty friend Darryl surprised me with a Bonne Maman advent calendar, these are the gorgeous jams and preserves with the cute red gingham lids and I love them! I had only just discovered that Bonne Maman actually DID an advent calendar and when I went to look, they had been sold out for ages! Darryl had managed to get two, one for him and one for me!
And the extra delight of this, is the cute little jars are all written in French, so I am having to brush up on my school girl french as well! Win / Win. (and eat delicious jams, so win/win/win!)
Another surprise advent calendar was this huge box arriving from my parents…. they purchased the Lush advent calendar for me! Talk about the spoiled youngest child!! It is huge…. about a metre high! And it smells divine (well, according to me, according to my hubby it stinks and the only room in the house I am allowed to have it is my craft room : ) – I had to get it out of our kitchen quick smart!)
It opens up like a doll house, so when open it is now filling my entire ironing station (which will become an issue in a couple of days when I am able to get back to my sewing!)
Each day is something like a bath bomb or bubble bar (my absolute favourites!) and I can’t wait to see what comes each day.
And now to my all time favourite Advent Calendar… the Stitch Supply Company one. Their boxes and artwork are just amazing and they collaborate with designers to create some unique (and personalised!) things in the calendar. It is not a cheap one to purchase and get shipped to Australia and I hummed and haa’ed for quite a while before deciding I was worth it!
The very first thing that is personalised is an ornament on the outside : )
And then opening the doors the cutest pink designs on each of the boxes. I cannot wait to see what is in each day’s box!
Day 1 is a hand made ceramic ornament / zipper charm / necklace – we get to decide what we use it for! I love my stars but there were apparently lots of different designs that Alexia made for us!
Day 2 was a personalised gift of our name on three stickers! Though, I will be needing to find an Anne who likes orange for one of them!
Day 3 is a lovely pair of Moda black scissors. They are nice and sharp!
Over on my personal Instagram account @anneboundy , I am opening up each of these in my stories and I am putting them into my story highlights which you can view from my profile page. In case you miss a day or two!
I hope you enjoy watching me open these to see whether next year you should put one of these on your ‘want’ list! Just remember that most of these open their pre orders from April through to August, after that they are sold out and you can’t get them any more.
And Merry Christmas!
