I was lucky enough to join Fat Quarter Shop in one of their Shortcut Quilt patterns released this week called the Fat Eighth Flapjacks Quilt!
I always love buying Fat Eighth bundles (these are cut at half a fat quarter so 9″ x 21″ or ~ 22cm x 53cm). I chose this gorgeous Strawberries and Rhubarb fabric by Figtree and I fell in love! Those pops of lime in amongst the coral and reds…. just gorgeous! We have some wonderful fat eighth bundles in the shop (and lots more coming) or if you are reading this from the US or Canada, The Fat Quarter Shop have some amazing fat eighth bundles.
And the Strawberries and Rhubarb came up a treat…. it looked so good made up into the blocks!
I loved the look so much I started working out a plan to make a pieced back for my quilt…. stay tuned for further down this blog post! But here is the almost finished quilt top (no borders on yet) in it’s first photo shoot in the paddock next to our house. On pretty much the only sunny day we had for weeks and weeks and week…..
And then finally I finished it! The colours are wonderful and the blocks create a seemingly complex look… but thankfully it isn’t hard at all! A beginner quilt.
And for the back of the quilt (because you know I love a good double sided quilt!) I created one REALLY big block using up all the scraps (because I also hate to have left overs from a project, hence the love of double sided quilts!)
And I used a digital quilting pattern over the quilt… the name of which escapes me as I am writing this (will update when I rediscover it!) which gives movement without being flowery…. a good pattern to have up my quilter’s sleeve!
So head on over to the Fat Quarter Shop to grab your FREE pattern and watch their Youtube video on how to make it. Have fun!
And just one last picture of it in our lounge…..
