Advent Calendars are firm favourites in our family…. from the little chocolates popped into the pockets, or an activity card for something to do each day. My brother especially loves his wine advent calendar I have given him a few years!

You can join our Facebook Sewalong & Quilting Group (please don’t forget to answer the member questions!) and then you can post the pictures of your progress there. There are lots of wonderful people in our group that have a wealth of skills and knowledge, so don’t be afraid to ask a question!

The Schedule:

Mon 16th Oct : purchase pattern, select your fabric and start cutting
Mon 23rd Oct: make pockets
Mon 30th Oct: finish all pockets
Mon 6th Nov: make the tree section and borders
Mon 13th Nov: sew buttons
Mon 20th Nov: quilting and binding
Mon 27th Nov: show us your advent calendars!

Supplies

You will need the following fabrics:

(50) 5″ squares – I suggest using two charm packs which will give you plenty of options
12″ square or jelly roll scraps for the tree
38″ x WOF background fabric
2.5″ x WOF for pocket numbers
1/4 yard for binding
3/4 yard for backing
batting
fusible web iron on paper
buttons to hang pockets
embellishments
