A Bunting Charmer with Soiree fabrics

By June 18, 2022July 4th, 2022blog

As soon as I saw the new collection called Soiree by Mara Perry for Moda Fabrics, I just KNEW I needed to make bunting with this….. oh.so.cute!

From pinks, light purples all the way through to a gorgeous minty aqua…. with cakes and balloons and bunting…. it just yelled LET’S CELEBRATE!

And when thinking of celebrating, I always think of bunting : )

My A Bunting Charmer pattern (part of the Charm Collective series of patterns designed to use charm squares – packs of 5″ squares) has a clever (if I can say so myself!) way of creating the bunting so that you use every skerrick of fabric, no waste, and makes the most delightful bunting!

Pop the binding on the top to hold it together. I like to back stitch between each flag so there is some extra stitching there to cope with the flags flying around in the wind.

A full charm pack (42 5″ squares) makes about 4.5 yards (about 4.1metres) of bunting!

It is deep in winter here at the moment, so no outside pictures of the bunting hanging… but gosh it does look so cute hanging in my craft room!

This will be a gift for my great-nephew’s birthday which is coming up very soon…. I can just see it hanging in his room brightening up his birthday week!

And I couldn’t resist winding up the bunting into a crown

Maybe that is how I will present it to my great-nephew!!

And from the top, the ‘crown’ looks like a flower!

Have a go at making my A Bunting Charmer pattern…. it is written for a charm pack (5″ squares) but the method works really well on any square…. so if you want something a little larger, a layer cake would make an AWESOME large bunting!

And there are still some Soiree Charm Packs and Layer Cakes available (at the time of writing this blog post!)
