Welcome back for month 8 of the Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along that I am doing in conjunction with the Fat Quarter Shop. We are getting so close to the end of our sewalong now, I can’t wait to start putting all the pieces together into a quilt!
{Please note there may be affiliate links in this blog – I get a small amount from FQS, your price is no different. This helps me to continue doing these sewalongs with you!}
This month’s block is the Farmer’s Star and this is what it looks like
I decided that my first block I was only going to use two fabrics! So my block will look a little bit different than the one in the book. Here are the two fabrics I chose. Yes, my two favourite Tula Pink fabrics… the dripping rose and those rascally raccoons!
My block two will follow the pattern much more closely and these are the fabrics I have chosen for this one… and yes, that is the first of Nightshade Deja Vu appearing in my quilt!
Again, I have decided to make the flying geese in the block oversized and four-at-a-time and to also use the Fat Quarter Shop’s square in a square foundation papers, so I had to tweak the cutting instructions for the pattern a bit.
So head on over to watch my video and get some tips on the different components of this month’s block!
Can’t wait to see your blocks in our Facebook Sewing and Quiltalong Group or on Instagram – just use the hashtag #barnstarsamplerQAL and feel free to tag me @said_with_love
Now I better get sewing on my second block! See you at the end of the month to reveal my two completed blocks.
