I really wanted to take my new quilt coat to New Zealand, so it spurred me on to get it FINISHED! Ahem…. actually started might be a better word!

The Tula Pink Roar fabric has been sitting quilted for ages now. But it was finally time to start cutting things out!

I always underestimate the effort it takes to decide a size, cut out the pieces (then pin them together to make sure you really have chosen the correct size!) and finally get up the nerve to CUT! Hehehe.
And then remember how you wanted to do the inside binding this time so it is almost invisible. Because I want this quilt coat to also be reversible.

Then figuring out how to insert side seam pockets (not in the pattern) and also make them reversible. By about this point I was losing the will to live or believe I would ever get this finished!!
Still I finally figured out the pockets. AND they reverse! They are definitely not perfect, but they work, so yay!

And then the binding of all internal seams and the outer edges began…… I needed to take some pictures at this point to give me hope there would be an end : )

But I did get there! And it was packed to head to New Zealand and I did get to wear it one day (most of the days were way too warm, but we had one cooler day)

The ‘inside’ looks pretty good too! For when I want to be less ‘out there’ with dinosaurs roaming across my coat!

Pattern is the Tamarack Jacket by Grainline Studios. With the add-on collar pattern.
Fabric is Roar by Tula Pink
