My bee mates and I had such a wonderful time this year sewing Thimbleblossoms blocks for each other using our Bonnie & Camille stashes!
My month was May and I selected the Room and Board pattern. And whilst I managed to get the quilt top together during the year…
The top sat for a while waiting for me to quilt it! And then, once I decided I was getting a longarm, it waited a lot longer in the quilting queue!
But it was first cab off the rank for Lily the Longarm! I did a new-to-me pattern all over it and I think it came out really well!
Lots of organic curves to counteract the squareness of the large log cabin blocks!
I decided on a aqua and red binding, matching up with where the aqua blocks and red blocks appeared in the quilt…. I really like it!
Here is the finished quilt, held by my wonderful @thefabrichusband quilt holder extraordinaire!
And of course there was my signature heart quilted in as well 🙂 I am thinking there will be one of these quilted into every quilts… who doesn’t need a little more love in their lives?! <3
This quilt is one my fourth quarter Finishalongs #2018FAL #2018FALSWL
What a beautiful first finish off your longarm. Did you free hand the quilting?
Thanks Yvonne! Yes, all free hand quilting. Yesterday I tried some ruler work, that is going to take a bit more practise!
I love the idea of putting something special on each quilt you make. I wish I’d thought of that when I started quilting years and many quilts ago!
Yes, I thought it would make each quilt a little bit unique with my signature heart on them 🙂
I love the large scale of your blocks and clearly you and your longarm are made for each other! Thank you for participating in the FAL, on behalf of the 2018 global FAL hosts.
