Victor Harbor Quilt Camp 2026

By June 13, 2026blog

Another year with the Coromandel Valley Quilt Group at Quilt Camp and another wonderful weekend with fabulous people!

Victor Harbor was putting on a show when I arrived on the Friday late afternoon, I had to have a quick walk along the foreshore before heading up to the Adare Camp. (my thought was a walk each morning but the sewing called louder than the seashore!)

We have our meals in the main building which is just stunning (though does need constant repairs!) and we sleep and sew in newer buildings out the back.

Meals are all handled for us and the first night we had lamb shanks…. though we thought they might be dinosaur shanks the size they were!

I got started on my sewing before dinner as well as a bit after dinner (before the mistakes started to make it not worth it!)

My new retreat sewing machine, a Janome S7AE, worked like a charm and meant there was a bit more space than usual on the table I was sharing with Lara who was doing her green, quilted hoodie!

By the end of the weekend, Lara had an almost complete hoodie made up!

My version of Hearty Patches quilt pattern using Scrumptious by Bonnie & Camille went together like a dream and by Saturday afternoon I had a completed quilt top!

Then I started on my next project, a table runner using hexies and triangles. My only issue was keeping track of which piece when where, but I finally had that one done by lunchtime on Sunday!

In between all the sewing was LOTS of eating (scones and jam and cream anyone?!), talking, laughing and admiring all the other amazing things that people have been making!

Oh, and there might be a quilt shop in Victor Harbor (Penny Lane Patchwork) so there was also a visit there and of course, some fabric was purchased! (no picture of that as I haven’t unpacked it yet!).

Another fantastic quilt camp weekend. I loved that I had taken the time beforehand to cut out my projects, as it meant that my time was very productive sewing!

Now I have two more items ready to quilt! (that queue is getting quite long however :-/ )

And I am looking forward to next year!
