2026 Penola Patchwork Party!

By June 14, 2026blog

Wow, what an amazing weekend we had at the Penola Patchwork Party this past weekend! (this is the mural on the side of the CWA building in Penola!)

A new venue (our third in three years eek!) and thankfully it was light and bright and the layout worked well.

We had a cute little goody bag ready and waiting for everyone as they arrived. A handmade by me thread catcher with a Lori Holt zipper charm, a Lori Holt measuring tape, some pins and some wonder clips (always useful!) a mini charm and a mini pattern to make a round mug rug plus it was all wrapped up in a FQ of fabric to make the mug rug with!

Everyone seemed to love being right next door to four wonderful coffee vendors as well as shops galore!

Koonara Cellar Door is actually closing in a few weeks sadly, so they were having the biggest sale of their gorgeous homewares and knick knacks…. I am not sure there were many left after the Quilters had been through there!

All the shop keepers were talking about ‘The Quilters’! I hope we helped the local economy a bit!

The food was plentiful and we have figured out a way to have our lunches in the new venue with a bit of re-jigging of things. That will make things easier for next year (yes, we will be back in the same venue hopefully!) as the first day we headed across the road for our lunch, it decided to pour with rain! Argh!

I did manage (by Saturday afternoon!) to get a little bit of sewing done and managed to put together a cute little charm pack quilt (tutorial coming soon!)

Show and Tell was a highlight of the weekend, OMG so many amazing and creative people! Quilts, applique, needlework, bags, coats, you name it, we saw it! I popped up a couple of carousel posts on my Instagram with them if you want to go and check those out.

If people wanted to, they could also grab one of the precut packs to make a churn dash block. I will be putting all these blocks together to make a Community Quilt to donate. It was a good way to make a small dent in my Bonnie & Camille stash!

There was also our little gift exchange, a lucky dip and dinner out together on the last night. A packed weekend!

On the last morning we had the obligatory group photo showing off some of the blocks we were working on at the time

Then, after three and a half days of sewing, it was time to say goodbye, sign up for next year and then pack up and head off home!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this a wonderful, friendly weekend and for everyone who helped me when my pesky wrist started playing up!

Bookings are open for 2027 June long weekend if you want to book your place now!
