We are going to have a fun and friendly sew along so that we can all make up our Advent Calendars by mid November – just in time to get into the swing of Christmas preparations 🙂
I have found in previous years that Christmas comes around so quickly… it sneaks up on us and all we feel like is that we are rushing here and there. I really wanted to slow down a little bit and enjoy the anticipation of the Christmas season.
The Said With Love Advent Calendar helps with that anticipation…. starting December 1st opening up each pocket and reading a little activity, a scripture to read, a little chocolate treat… or my favourite that we as an extended family did last year – take a photo-a-day!
Every family has their own traditions and the SWL Advent Calendar comes with two sets of tags to put into your daily pockets – a set of activities to do as a family each day and our photo-a-day tags. There are some blank ones so you can create your own, or add to the printed ones.
Making the Advent Calendar is not difficult… anyone who can sew straight can do it!
Join us on our sew-along and we will work through each section of the advent calendar and we will all have one finished by mid November. Plenty of time to package it up nicely and give / send to a loved one, or hang it up in your own home in time for December 1st! Can’t you just imagine the look on your family’s faces when they see this hanging on your wall come December 1?
As we all have work and family commitments, the sew along will be fun, friendly and relaxed. If you miss a week, don’t panic, there is some slack built in so you can catch up later! If you have some extra time up your sleeve (please tell me how you manage that!) you can sew ahead 🙂

Our Sew Along Schedule
26th September – purchase the pattern (a PDF will be emailed to you), select your fabric and start cutting
3rd October – start making the pockets
10th October – finish all the pockets (there are 25 of them to make!)
17th October – make the tree main section and borders
24th October – sewing on the buttons
31st October – catch up
7th November – quilting and binding
14th November – round up of the sew along
