Woohoo!! We started putting the four big sections (called groups in the pattern) together this week!
There were just a few little blocks left to do … the ‘fillers’ before we could start cutting our background strips and putting groups 1 and 2 together!
These little plus signs are sprinkled throughout the background so I wanted them to stand out!
And lots of 2″ squares that pop up in and around the heart too! Great for little bits of fussy cutting! Like this cutie pie
But the main part of this week is to decide on a final layout and get sewing the sections/groups together!
Here is the *almost* final layout on my design wall
I decided that the large colourful dresden fan in the middle was going to be how the colours progressed around my quilt… there were a few more tweaks before the four groups of the quilt went together…. can’t wait to show you it all together!
Here is Group 1 (the left hand section)
It really is like a fabric jigsaw puzzle… the booklet shows how to put each bit together and it really is a case of slow and steady goes.
I cut my strips out and laid them out on the design bed (yep, its a thing!) so I could start putting it together….. took quite a few hours, but worth it!
And here is Group 2
I am just loving the pink and blues together!!
Next week are the right hand sections and then finally we can show a finished quilt top!!
