WOOHOO!!! Oh wow, this has taken a LONG time to get here 🙂 I have FINALLY made my gnome blocks from the Norm and Nanette pattern that I started back in FEBRUARY 2019 (gulp!) into a quilt top!
This is where I left it during the sewalong….. 8 gnomes made and life got in the way.
I got them back out at the end of January as I was determined that this year I would be getting through some old WIPs and this one was first cab off the rank…. except, well, life !
But this last week I have been well enough to sew and it has been nagging at me… so up they went back on the design wall and a plan began emerging!
I decided to not make any more blocks and to put lots of sashing and borders on to make it a larger height.
I had quite a bit of the fabric still left from the second layer cake I had been using, so some nice big blocks of colour for a middle row. (rest is planned for a scrappy binding!) And then lots of the grey shot cotton (from Spotlight here in Australia) around and between.
And voila! One finished quilt top. Huge sigh of relief. Have found a nice backing to go with it from my stash and it is now in my queue for the longarm. Which sadly is quite a long queue….. but I promise it won’t be another two years before the quilting is done!!
Oh, and the whole putting the blocks together into a quilt top probably took about 2.5 hours…… why did I wait so long?!?!?! Hehehe.
