Welcome to week 4 of our #icypolessal of Elizabeth Hartman patterns Penguin Party and North Stars!
It isn’t too late to join us…. we are going until the end of October 🙂 And you don’t have to make a whole quilt… a block or two, a cushion perhaps? For more information about the sew along and to see previous blog posts, have a read of the Icy Poles Sew Along page 🙂
This week I have been working hard on my North Stars blocks…. and when I say hard…. this one caused me some headaches!! I have made sooo many oopsies on this block I was almost ready to give it a skip!
Here is Willa Walrus, finally.
I am kinda kicking myself for using a directional fabric on this one! Because my OCD leanings will just not let me get one of them wrong…. so the cutting for this one took a bit longer than normal (and they already take a bit of time!).
And…. well… then I was having a great time and putting things together when I didn’t think the head was looking quite right…. more like a squished bulldog kinda face….
Um… definitely NOT right!! hehe… I had completely forgotten to put some side bits on before doing the corners at the top and oh…. there was lots of unpicking and re-cutting before this one was right!!
I share this so that you don’t just see all the finished blocks and quilts, but the reality along the way!!
I am not 100% sure about this fabric choice either…. a bit too much white in it… but there is no way I am making another one!!
I hope your Willa Walrus is going better than mine!
See you on the weekend with Seamus Fernhill the penguin!
