My new Horn Sewing Table

By February 7, 2025blog

I have been wanting a sewing table that allows my sewing machine to drop down into it, so my sewing space is flat, for a really long time now!

And 2025 is the year my dreams have come true! I decided on the Horn Adjustable Height Sewing table and I can’t wait to show and tell you all about it!

And spoiler alert, I am loving it so much that I am now a reseller for it! So if you want one in your sewing space, you can order it from me.

And if you are in the USA, this same table is available from Arrow Sewing and I have an affiliate code for them too. It is called the Kangaroo Tasmanian table on their site.

So yes, that is one happy quilter right there!

The table comes in three flat packed boxes via courier (the shipping cost is worth it as it is well packed and delivered to your door so no trying to manhandle it into a trailer or something!)

It arrived two days before our Open Quilt Barn way back in late November 2024 and because of all that we had going on as a family between then and early January, the boxes sat by our front door all that time. EVERY day I walked past the boxes I so wanted to open them, but it needed time that we just didn’t have until late January…. and then WOOHOO!

If you haven’t seen my sewing space before, I had an IKEA desk as my sewing table.

It worked ok. But as you can see, I didn’t have much space and as my sewing machine was on top of the desk with my extension table, doing anything with a full quilt top (like adding binding) or sewing rows together was a nightmare! The quilts kept falling off the side, making it very hard work for my poor left arm to cope with.

Also very little space to put pieces of blocks before sewing them. It was slowing me down and giving me frustrations!

So the Horn Adjustable Height sewing table was on my radar. I asked around a few people who had one and it was the dimensions that sold me! LOOK at all that space!

The table height is adjustable with a handle on the side (you choose whether it is the left or right hand side), so it means that based on your height and chair height you can get the perfect spot for the table to be for the best sewing experience for you!

Ian (@thefabrichusband) and I put the table together and filmed a video to show you how to do it. And we are happy to answer questions if you have any when you get yours.

I got the white as the rest of the furniture in my sewing space is white, however it also comes in Grey Oak.

And weathered oak

When you order the table you need to specify the exact make and model of your sewing machine, as a perspex insert will be cut to fit your machine for the drop in space. Mine fit my machine perfectly!

Now apparently the table can also be flipped to store vertically, but that is never going to happen in my sewing space!! But it could be handy if you needed to move I suppose.

I think the hardest part of the process was realising that my old IKEA desk had a cupboard and two drawers that I would no longer have, so cleaning them out and finding homes for the items in them took a bit of time.

There is room for some drawers under the table, but I have realised I like the space to the left of my sewing machine for sitting and planning my projects and laying out blocks etc, so I may not put a set of drawers under there!

The space between the floor and the brace is 41cm (16″)

Distance between the two left struts holding the table is 55cm (21.5″)

The space between the very left strut and the metal holding the drop down table is 71cm (28″).

The height available of course depends on how high you have your table set. But there is definitely room for a small set of drawers or shelf under there.

And of course there is even more space on the other side of the middle brace so you could always have drawers or shelves accessible from the other side of the table.

I would love to chat to you about your sewing table requirements – so feel free to reach out to my via the Contact page.

You can put an order in for one through me at Said With Love here.

Or if you are in the USA, you can order one from Arrow Sewing through my affiliate link. They call it the Tasmanian table under their Kangaroo brand.
