My WIP progress – first Quarter 2025

By April 4, 2025blog

At the beginning of 2025 I said that I wanted to work on my WIPs (works in progress) and get the number from the 19 I was starting with, down to 10 by the end of 2025.

I made some great progress during Q1 of 2025!

My Confection Batiks quilt got finished! This was my first English Paper Pieced quilt, and as such is pretty small, but I had some fun doing custom quilting on it and it now hangs in our sunroom which is my favourite sitting spot to do some hand stitching!

The Ambleside Shortcut quilt is also finished! This is a HUGE quilt and is now happily gracing our guest bedroom ready for guests over Easter.

I worked REALLY hard on the Country BOM, getting all the blocks finished, including doing all the raw edge applique. And the hardest part of fixing up the block sizing so they would all fit together! It is now a quilt top awaiting quilting up on Lily The Longarm!

So I managed to completely finish two of my WIPs and get fantastic progress on another!

I also finished a third WIP that I can’t show you just yet, so my count has gone from 19 down to 16 and that Country BOM days are numbered on my WIP list!

The next three that I am going to concentrate on for this Quarter are:

I have started making more of A Year Of Hearts blocks, with darker backgrounds, for the final fun layout for AYOH! This has been fun to make but there are still quite a few to go! Complete pattern and layout pattern will be coming but gosh it is taking longer than I had anticipated!

The Sunset blocks are still awaiting a decision on sashing and being put together into a quilt top. This will probably go with me to Quilt Camp at the end of May up in Victor Harbor with the Coromandel Valley Quilt Group!

And the Nantucket Hideaway Quilt (which is a double sided cutie) is almost ready for quilting…. just some big borders onto the Patchwork Swoon that will be the back and then it can be quilted!

I really do just want to be in my sewing room, sewing and quilting and making things…. but life and work keep on getting in the way!

So, the count starting Q2 of 2025 is 16…. let’s see how many I can get finished this quarter!

HI, is there a pattern for the Ambleside Shortcut quilt you just finished. It’s beautiful.
    Thanks,
    Susan

Hi Susan, yes, it is called Shortcake and is by Cluck Cluck Sew – a great jelly roll quilt (I actually used a jelly roll and some layer cake squares I had). I have made this previously and have a few tips at the bottom of this blog post https://saidwithlove.com.au/shortcake-in-daysail/ that might help you make it a bit quicker 🙂
