Penola Patchwork Party Retreat 2025 Roundup

By June 12, 2025November 17th, 2025blog

Wow, what a weekend it has been! The Penola Patchwork Party 2025 was such a fun weekend and everyone had a fabulous time!

I even remembered to get a photo of everyone with some of the projects that they worked on over the weekend!

To the delight of me and all the farmers across the southern part of Australia, the weekend was cold and RAINY! Such a lovely sound on the tin roof of the Penola Football Clubrooms and thankfully we managed to miss most of it when bringing all our gear in and out.

Inside we were warm and toasty (in fact we had to turn the heaters off by early afternoon most days as we were all getting too hot!)

With so much more space than last year, including extra table space for laying out blocks (or floor space for those able to get up and down!), everyone was loving the space.

So much so that Mel was able to lay out her Jelly Roll Race strips all the way down the room (it is about 25metres long!!)

We had a different cafe catering this year, the Vintage Cafe in town, and the food and service was awesome! Individual, hand made quiches for Saturday lunch, including gluten free ones specifically for our GF participants! They were delish!

My friend Caity and her two wonderful kids Mia and Josh came down again to help me with the food and clean up afterwards… they are worth their weight in gold!

Of course, I totally forgot to take any photos of the food (too busy helping get it set out and eating it!) But @thefabrichusband did manage a quick snap of me on the last day putting out the wraps we had.

There were so many stunning projects being worked on over the weekend in our THREE and a half days of sewing!!

I managed to get my Sunset blocks trimmed, sewn together, sashed and made into a quilt top! Yay!

Here are just a few of the other projects happening over the weekend that I managed to snap!

There was also a show and tell where some people brought along their first quilt as well as their favourite quilts to show us….. such inspiration (and adding to my ‘want to make’ list!

We all had so much fun, we are going to do it again next year on the June Long Weekend.

I can’t tell you wonderful it is for three full days plus the Friday (which starts from 1pm) of sewing and someone else feeding you! Uninterrupted sewing time!

If you would like to join us next year, you can book in now and take advantage of the Retreat Early Bird which you can pay a 20% deposit now and then pay the last four payments off over the months starting early in 2026!
