I got together with my fellow Designing Women – Quilter’s Edition friends to put together some fun gift ideas you can start making now for presents in December!

Each of us is showcasing a fun design that is either Christmas themed or a fun gift to make and give a loved one.
We made this video talking about and showing our projects, as well as our favourite Christmas desserts! Wow, there were some yummy things discussed and a few I can’t wait to try out this Xmas! (mine is down the bottom of this blog post!)

My small (and pretty quick!) project is a Kitty Cat Placemat! Such a fun make and I used some sweet christmas cat fabric I had (Purrfect Christmas which as of today there are still some charm packs left in the shop).
You can use scraps or a mini charm or charm pack like I did (you can make quite a few placemats with one charm pack!)
Head to my blog post to read more about it, the YouTube tutorial to see how to do it and you can purchase the low cost pattern with template here (for non Australians, the price includes our 10% GST which is removed when you check out. And as an estimate $5.45AUD is approx $4USD.)

Raylee has a cute log cabin mug rug that you can use up your Christmas fabric scraps, or colour co-ordinated scraps for a cute gift.

You can even not do the binding if you want a REALLY simple and quick project for those last minute gifts, an alternate method is included in the pattern.
Go to Raylee’s blog to read more about the project and grab the pattern!
Jen from Faith and Fabric has TWO projects for you!
The first is a cute Christmas napkin in the shape of a Xmas Tree! Such fun and again, a great project to use up your christmas fabric scraps! AND it is a free pattern for you!

Jen’s second project is cute little Pocket Prayer Quilts. These are cute little mini-mini quilts that have a little something inside, and if you buy a kit from Jen, has the printed prayers to cut out and use on the back. Her kits also include the cute little gift bags and the little crosses.

But if you aren’t in the USA to get a kit from Jen, you can still get the pattern and pop a little something like a coin or other little keepsake inside the mini quilt. Sort of like a little talisman to give to someone to help them through their days.
Head on over to Jen’s website and blog to read all about her two patterns and how to get the patterns and / or a kit!
Laura from Orange Blossom Designs has a wonderful offer for everyone! The pattern is for a cute Cinch Sack (or drawstring bag for us Aussies) that has fabric straps that make it a back pack!

The pattern is available for purchase, however Laura is offering anyone who makes one to put into the Operation Christmas Child boxes and sends her an email with proof, will receive a coupon for the cost of the original pattern you can use to purchase another pattern from her shop!
For more details head on over to her blog post to read all about it.
Charisma Horton has a full quilt pattern for you and it is a stunner! We all want on hanging in our hallway / entry for Xmas day so we can all have our guest’s pictures taken with deer antlers!

The quilt is 64″ x 76″ so it would defintely be a project that needs to start soon to have it finished by Christmas, but what a centrepiece to your celebrations!
Head on over to Charisma’s blog to read all about her quilt.
Christmas Desserts
My favourite Christmas Dessert is a Chocolate Ripple Wreath. In Australia the chocolate ripple biscuit (cookie) is a store bought biscuit that whilst chocolate coloured, doesn’t have any chocolate in them, just cocoa.
You dip the biscuits into some juice (or alcohol if there are no kids!) and then slather them in whipped cream (with a bit of sugar and vanilla in it). Put them next to each other into a circle and then cover all of it with more whipped cream. Pop it in the fridge until ready to serve and the biscuits become cake-like and delish!
Option is to put some chocolate shavings or fruit in the middle / around the top to make it look festive.
The year of this picture, my mum went all out with the fruit, most years I make it, it is just chocolate shavings on top!
If you would like a recipe, the Taste website has one.

Guaranteed to put on some extra kilograms, this dessert is an Aussie classic!
I hope you have enjoyed heading around the other Designing Women’s blogs and how have a few fun projects that you can make for gifts for the holiday season this year!
And I would love to hear what YOUR favourite christmas dessert is : )
