When Shannon (@ebmakery on Instagram) started giving sneak peeks of her first fabric line for Moda called Acreage I just loved all the delicious colours! They reminded me of summer and watermelons and picnics in the park.
There are so many gorgeous prints in this line…. those bikes are just the best! The fabric is shipping to shops around the globe now (Sept 2016), so get in quick and get some!
Shannon asked for people who were interested in being part of the release blog tour and I jumped at the chance! I couldn’t wait to play with this gorgeous fabric!
I had this great aqua wire basket from Typo that I thought would be a great picnic basket… it just needed a colourful liner!
And a couple of pear ciders with what we call in Australia ‘stubby holders’ that I saw on Samelia’s Mum’s blog the other day – they are so quick to whip up and great for keeping your hands from freezing with a nice cold beverage in your hands 🙂
And what would a picnic be without a picnic rug? I couldn’t resist the Rise Quilt by Alison from Woodberry Way – a free quilt along that she has had on her blog over the US summer. I just loved the balloons and I think they looked fabulous in Acreage!
Our front yard is full of daffodils at the beginning of spring and the balloon quilt is rising beautifully above them!
I increased the size of the balloon pattern and added one on the back of the quilt and quilted with my go-to wriggly line stitch on my Janome.
And I loved how @crimsonconfection on Instagram popped little birds etc in her balloon baskets, so I copied shamelessly!
I had originally envisaged a picnic scene on the lawn near our pond… but as we are just finishing winter here in Australia and it has been the wettest winter in quite some time (we have had almost 100mm ~4inches this week and low level flooding all around)… things were a bit too damp to contemplate a picnic photo shoot!
Here is my attempt at photographing the quilt near our pond…. it was just a LITTLE bit windy and the squelching underfoot was not nice!
So I settled for an indoor picnic in our sunroom when the sun finally made a break through the incessant grey clouds. I think Acreage could brighten up any day!
And a closeup of the cute little teddy who hitched a ride in our pink balloon, just like all the other birds and animals!
Now, for some fabric fun! I have a partial layer cake and some other scrap pieces of Acreage that I would like to give away 🙂 Because once you have seen all these pics (and gone back and looked at all the other gorgeous makes by the others on the blog tour below) you are going to NEED some Acreage to play with yourself!
So please leave a comment here letting me know what your favourite colour way of Acreage is…. Teal, Yellow, Green, Orange or Pink? You can get another entry into the giveaway by commenting on my Instagram post @anneboundy
