Alphabet Panel Make Number 2

By April 17, 2023blog

While I had the Alphabet Botanical panel out and was chopping it up into the letters, I decided I wanted to create a word to go on the front of one of my Zippy Project Pouches from my free tutorial!

I chose my four letter word and headed to the sewing machine to sew them together. There is one panel that has all the letters of the alphabet and another panel that has more of the commonly used letters (like e and a etc).

Then I started doing some free motion quilting on my letters. Every time I seem to forget how hard it is for me to do free motion on my domestic sewing machine!! Give me a longarm any day!

Still, I worked away doing a small stipple in the background behind each of the letters.

It was starting to take shape and I was liking how it was looking!

Then I went and shopped my stash for some coordinating fabrics – I picked a gorgeous pinky coral fabric by Amy Sinibaldi for AGF for the section above the zipper.

And even used some of my all time favourite Kate Spain fabric for the back and binding from Aria!

A red zip and a cute measuring tape zipper pull completed the project!

For the lining / inside I used this cool green texty print with sewing terms on it from Sewing School by Jodie Carleton.

Another cute project that can be gifted at some point and all done in a very enjoyable afternoon.

If you look closely at the binding, I have machine sewn it instead of my usual hand sewing the binding down. My wrist is still not up to much hand sewing, so I am saving that time for hand binding my large Tula Pink Spools for Love quilt this week.
