This part of the binding tutorial is about how I hand sew the binding to the back of the quilt. If you missed part 1 of the binding tutorial, head over and read that too!
Funnily enough I HATE hand sewing… but I love putting the binding on a quilt by hand…. it is therapeutic, a chance to slow down and really look at the quilt… and of course it is almost the end, so YIPPEE!!
I use wonder clips to hold down my binding. A needle that I can actually see the eye of the needle to thread it! Not too thick a needle, as you don’t want to make large holes in your quilt, but nothing too tiny that it is hard to use or thread.
Speaking of thread… I use Aurifil thread… I find it doesn’t curl around or knot quite as much as others I have used.
One day I will test out some thread gloss to see if it makes a difference… have you used any? What did you think?
So have a watch of the video below…. I usually bind in the evenings, so I grabbed the chance to do a video during daylight hours so you can actually SEE what I am doing! Hope it helps!
Thanks for watching. If you would like to see more of my videos when I make them, please subscribe to my Youtube Channel 🙂
