Welcome to week 1 of the Community Slowalong! We will be doing two blocks a week until late January 2022…. so nice and slow and fun.
If you sign up for the sewalong here you will receive each week’s blocks and also my tips and tricks to your inbox. Also fun things like a Block Label PDF and other useful tips along the way. There will be a blog post each week with the blocks and the Community Slowalong page will have links to the free block designs, however the emails have extra information and pressing and making tips that are worth it!
This is a sampler style quilt and each week we will be doing a 12″ block and a 6″ block (these sizes are finished sizes or the size they are when they are sewn into a quilt… when you are just making the block by itself it will be 12.5″ and 6.5″ with the seam allowance).
And for this first week we are also introducing the setting block that we will be putting the 6″ blocks into (to make them into 12″ blocks!). So let’s get started!
The first 6″ block (in its setting block) is the Economy block… this is a great block to have up your sleeve and can make a great scrappy quilt from your scrap stash!
The setting block is the half square triangles and background around the centre economy block. You are going to need 13 of these for the finished quilt.
And the 12″ block for this first week is City Girl – this was from our Moda Stitch Pink sampler from 2020.
