Daylesford Quilt SAL – Week 1

Well the first week of the Daylesford Quilt Sew Along has gone off with a bang! Soooo many gorgeous fabrics have been selected! For more information about the sewalong (and it isn’t too late to join in!) head to the Daylesford Quilt Sew Along web page.

These are the fabrics I have chosen…. Daydream FQ Bundle by Kate Spain. This one has been sitting on my shelf for way too long… I think it is going to make a bright and cheery Daylesford quilt!

Participants have chosen everything from muted neutrals to vibrant Tula Pink and all things in between!

The choices for centre fabrics are awesome!

My centre fabric is Girl Power by Dawn Tumelty for Robert Kaufman. It has all the colours that are in my FQ Bundle and I love the affirmation quotes… “never let anyone dull your sparkle!” and “dream big!”.

The first week of the Sewalong has been about fabric selection , getting the centre decided and making the first rounds of Daylesford. There are some things to look out for in the pattern and we talk through all of them in our first week.

Here is my quilt so far at the end of Week 1. Four rounds done and a sense of how to do it all and oh the possibilities! This will definitely NOT be my only Daylesford quilt that is for sure!

And as our sewalong is eight weeks, and there are also eight delicious recipes in the Quilt Recipes book by Jen Kingwell….. I am going to try and make one recipe per week too! Here are the Raisin Cookies (with choc chips instead!) and can I just say YUM!!

I hope you enjoy watching along as we go through the Daylesford Quilt Sew Along and don’t forget to check out the hashtag on Instagram #daylesfordquiltSAL to see all the wonderful things being made.
