I finally have finished my quilt made from Elizabeth Hartman’s Awesome Ocean, Delightful Desert and Fancy Forest patterns!
This quilt is for my great-nephew Felix who will be going into his big boy bed very soon – I wanted to make something fun for him to look at whilst in bed (and for us to make up stories about all the animals!).
It is pretty big… it will hang over nicely on both sides (and end) of his new single bed… making sure he will be warm and snuggly in his new bed 🙂
I started this as part of the #peacefulplanetsal from earlier this year, and finished it as part of the #elizabethhartmanalltheanimalssal that has just ended.
I added in a couple of blocks from Lori Holt’s Spelling Bee book so that I could spell out his name and start him on his numbers 🙂 And there might be a cute little puppy or two in there that looks like their little Minni 🙂
I used some of The Greatest Adventure fabric (just the most perfect boy fabric EVER!) in big squares all over the back so it is almost a double sided quilt 🙂
And I couldn’t resist making up a scrappy binding out of the fabrics used on the front of the quilt to set off the dark grey background 🙂
And this was quilted by ME on a Bernina Q24 long arm quilting machine at www.sew-inn.com.au – you can rent by the hour to use the long arm once you have done a training session with Jane 🙂
And of course I just had to do one of my signature heart shapes 🙂 That might be as close as I get to putting a label on it!!
One of my finishes for my second quarter Finishalong #2018FAL #2018FALSWL – woohoo! I am ticking them off the list 🙂
