We ran a Fabric Baskets class this last weekend where we showed some lovely ladies how to make a variety of different fabric baskets.
And there are SOOO MANY great patterns and tutorials out there! (mostly free and a few very reasonably priced!)
Once you learn the basic skills of the main construction methods of fabric baskets and get some of the tips to make a great looking basket (spoiler alert…. PRESSING!), you can have a go at making any fabric basket you like 🙂
This is the round up of my favourites 🙂
The Hour Basket
@kelbysews created what I think is THE most useful and quick fabric basket pattern there is. $1 USD for the Hour Basket Pattern and as you will see by my fabric organisation post tomorrow, I might just LOVE making these!
Fabric Storage Pod
I stumbled across this Storage Pod Pattern and it is just the sweetest looking fabric basket. I am planning on more of these too! Depending on what interfacing you use these could hold some reasonably substantial things.
Hexagon Fabric Tray
I love these little Hexagon Fabric Trays! They are easy to make, look fabulous and are practical too for those little things in your sewing room like pins, clips and thread!
Thread Catcher
This tutorial by The Sewing Chick details out a quilt as you go method for making a sturdy thread catcher…. but you can modify this to have a pre-sewn patchwork panel or just a single piece of fabric too.
Handled Basket
This Handled Basket is one of my patterns and can be equally at home in the sewing room as a thread catcher or on the arms of a little one hunting eggs at easter time!
I hope you enjoyed the round up of the great fabric basket tutorials that are free or almost free!
