Farm Girl Vintage 2 Finished

By January 8, 2021blog

Thanks to the ‘diversion’ of 2020…. my Farm Girl Vintage 2 only just got quilted a few days before the end of the year…. and bound over the first few days of 2021.

I am still counting this as a 2020 finish because I needed to feel like I made SOMETHING in 2020!!

I started this as part of the Fat Quarter Shop’s sewalong late 2019… and only finally finished making the blocks in April 2020. I tweaked the layout of the truck quilt that is in the pattern book a bit.

And I really wanted all the animals along the bottom so that I could have grass / mud all the way along the bottom.

The garden with the scarecrow was above that and flowers and bees and stars around the edges and the top.

The quilt top was all together on my birthday in May!

And then it sat for quite a while. I didn’t have enough of any one Sweetwater print to use as the backing, so I had to make a scrappy backing from all the Sweetwater scraps I do have! (and surprisingly, still have quite a few!)

It was starting to get a little windy when we were taking pics the other day but hopefully you can see that I sort of did a quarter log cabin (a large one!) using my scraps on the back.

I did a free motion all over for the quilting…

except the truck got some line work and I wrote the name of our home – Ambleside – in the quilting, along with twenty twenty.

The first Farm Girl Vintage quilt (click on the link to view that blog post) I made has been on our bed since 2016 so it was high time for a change!

If you want to see some of the blocks in more detail click here to view them as I did blog posts for some of them.

Did you make a quilt from the Farm Girl Vintage 2 book?
