Hey Boo Baskets

By May 10, 2024blog

The Hey Boo fabric collection by Lella Boutique has arrived and OMG it is so cute!

I am not a big Halloween fan (it isn’t that big here in Australia) but that cute little ghost and the pink and green colours just caught me and then I saw the fabulous baskets by Knot and Thread that Kaitlyn made with the fabric and I was totally hooked!

The basket pattern is called Olivia’s Baskets and they use Soft and Stable to give them structure.

So as soon as Hey Boo arrived, I headed to my sewing room and started making!

First up I made a test basket with some Amy Sinibaldi and Ruby Star Society fabrics from my stash to test how the pattern goes together.

And then I cracked out the ‘good’ fabric and started cutting up the cute panel that came in the Fat Quarter bundle (we still have some panels left as well as charm packs, jelly rolls and yardage)

I made a medium one as per the pattern but needed to tweak the placement of the panel piece, so my second bag was a mix of the small and medium sizings so that the Hey Boo panel piece looked just right with the folded down top!

The original medium sized one with ‘howl at the moon’ panel piece is going to be holding my wool stash!

And my Hey Boo one is already holding my little zippy pouches neatly on my shelf.

Next up on my Hey Boo making list is one of Vanessa’s patterns – I just can’t decide between Ghost Town or The Web! Ooh… and she is having a sewalong on her website at the moment of Monster Mash which uses blocks from all the different Hey Boo patterns! Check out the Lella Boutique Website for more details and to purchase her PDF patterns.

And if check out Vanessa’s website you will see that her new collection Love Blooms has been announced, we already have some early release precuts up on the website for pre order!
