I finally got around to making the largest version of Jelly Roll Patch (pattern available here) just before Xmas in 2016…… and I just got it back from the long armer this month (yes, long story, let’s just say she had a VERY busy 2017!!).
I made it using my favourite Gooseberry fabric line by @lellaboutique…. I had managed to stash away two jelly rolls and what better than to make the large (and it is HUGE at 87″ square!) size of my Jelly Roll Patch pattern!
It looks rather at home in front the Quilt Barn!
I was hoping to follow the pattern to the T for the backing, however I didn’t have the pattern on me when I had a chance visit to a fabric shop… so bought what I thought I needed but it was a little bit short.
However, that was an opportunity to have a bit of fun and make it up as I went along… so the back is not quite the same as it is in the pattern.
I even went out of my comfort zone and did a scrappy binding… and unless you are really looking (you are now, though, aren’t you?!) it isn’t that noticeable which is great!
Soooo…. who wants to come and sit on the porch of the Quilt Barn with me?
Pssst I am having a beginner’s quilt class weekend the 17th and 18th March and there is still a place available if you want to join us and make up the small, lap sized version of this. Just go to Classes for more information.
This is one of the very few things on my #2018FAL list that I have managed to finish this quarter. Click here to view the original blog post from January.
It looks fantastic! Congratulations on the finish.
Thanks Yvonne…. the finish was a bit of a long time coming, but I do love getting them done!
Oh my gosh, what a beautiful setting!!! If I weren’t in the U.S., I’d definitely take you up on use of the Quilt Barn every so often. My favorite kind of trip. 🙂 And this is a really nice jelly roll quilt. LOVE that scrappy binding – absolutely perfect for it.
Thanks so much Lynette! And yes, wouldn’t it be great to be able to teleport and have a sew weekend?? 😀
