Wow, this Project Party has been going ‘off’! So many amazing things being made by everyone! (And keep reading for a giveaway!)
Mathew, aka @misterdomestic, invited some smaller businesses / people to be involved in the launch of his new Catch & Release fabric line for Art Gallery Fabrics and I was lucky enough to be chosen!
There are some gorgeous fabrics in the collection, so much so I bought a FQ Bundle as well as the fabrics that Mathew had sent me!
So here is what I made!
One of my Flowering Charms cushions with five of the beautiful blue prints. The background fabric is AGF Pure Elements called Icy Mint and I couldn’t do anything else but quilt ‘water with bubbles’ as the quilting design!
(oh and that cutsie yellow FISH button was just sitting in my button stash waiting for just.this.moment!)
Whilst I was making the cushion top, I saw a post on Instagram of the Woven Stars Variation pattern by Wefty Needle…. fabric weaving that showed this amazing star pattern! I had resisted doing any fabric weaving up to that point, but that pattern had me in!
I did some practicing, and then I modified the pattern to make one really BIG star… and voila…. the backing for the Flowering Charms cushion was created!
(and I am now totally hooked on fabric weaving too!!)
And, because I am an overachiever… I also made one of the 9 flower versions of the Flowering Charms pattern
For this cushion I used the Paddle Rows print as a simple backing.
The photo shoot took place next to a little Winter’s Creek that runs through the farm behind our house…. Hawthorn trees fringe the creek and at the spot I chose, the creek widens out and there is a lovely grassy spot under the trees. Very picturesque! I did of course have to wait about 2 weeks for the sun to shine here (still winter here!).
And I took a little video of the running creek and the little spot I was doing the photo shoot on ๐
I had to lug two huge bags of props and the cushions over a fence, through a couple of gates, walk through the other part of our Winter’s Creek and through some mud… the things we do for a good photo!!! (and yes, they are some boxes holding up the cushions to ‘just’ the right angle!!)
Thanks for reading this far! We have a giveaway to help celebrate! [PLEASE NOTE THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED and Jo Matthews @misskenny from Instagram won!]
You can win a copy of my Flowering Charms cushion pattern and some Catch & Release fabric to make it!
I have included 5″ squares of 9 of the fabrics from Catch & Release, some Icy Mint AGF Pure Elements solid for the background, Mirage Blue AGF Pure Elements solid for the back (and binding) of the cushion and a zip and some buttons! This is enough to make either the 9 flower or 5 flower version of my Flowering Charms cushion!
