It is almost time for quilt retreat with Raylee from Sunflower Quilting and I am so excited!
Raylee holds two retreats each year, one around April and the second around Sept / October. If you want to find out more about Raylee’s retreats – head on over to her website and check out the upcoming retreats! https://sunflowerstitcheries.com/events/sewcial-retreats/

I started packing up my projects to take to retreat and thought I would share them with you here!

The Circle of Peace sewalong blocks – cute log cabin blocks with these fun sewing sayings in the middle!
I have joined @gogokim (and some others) in this very relaxed sewalong. Log cabin blocks using honeybun strips ( 1 & 1/2″) in the prettiest of colours. I have about another 10 of these to do and the I *may* put some jelly roll strips around the outside as I found the same fabric collection down in the bottom of my stash!

Gemstone Tumble by Emma Jean Jansen was started at a class at AQC waay back in 2017 and I really haven’t gotten past the yellow colourway!
The class was using freezer paper foundation paper piecing, but I have decided I am just going to do normal foundation paper piecing, so I have printed off all the templates, worked out all my colours and cut the correct sized strips and I am ready to SEW BLOCKS!

Potato Chip Block – I am new to potato chip blocks… @thefabrichusband asked me why they were called that and I said that maybe because they were addictive like real potato chips?! He thought it might because the jelly roll strips have crinkled edges!
Either way, they are fun and pretty quick to make and as I *might* have just a few jelly rolls in my stash, I thought I would give them a go. I saw these being sewn on the Just Get It Done Quilts youtube channel.
One block has the darker colours on the outside, the other block will have the lighter colours on the outside. Looking forward to seeing this one come together!

A No Cut Block! Well this is just a bit of fun! Lindsay from Happy Hour Stitches calls this the Easy Double Square block and over on her blog she explains how to make it. https://www.hhstitches.com/post/easy-double-square-quilt-block-pattern
Basically you use a layer cake square and a charm pack square and there is no cutting, just sewing four seams! And it makes a block that looks like you made a 9 patch block. Loads of fun, oh so very quick and would be a great block for beginners to sew as they can stay away from scary rotary cutters!
This is my test block from scraps, but for the real thing I am using a layer cake and charm pack of Daysail by Bonnie & Camille.

Lori Holt project bags. I bought this large panel from Kerry at The Rural Stitch Co in Penola during the Penola Patchwork Party retreat in June (you can book for next year if you want to join me!).
I finally have picked some interior fabrics for each of the project bags as well as some zippers. It seems I can never have enough project bags or zippy pouches! Really looking forward to making these.
So now it is just about getting the car packed with all my projects, my sewing machine in the XL Tutto bag (I have a video here of what I pack into my Tutto bag on retreat!) , a few things to sell on the pop up shop table and hopefully there will still be some space for some clothes!

I will give you an update on what I managed to get done once I am home again!
