This quilt was quite a departure from my usual colours… but these were the colours chosen by #thealison for the Cotton Factory Block Swap #CFCBlockSwap in 2016.
I sent in 4 blocks and received 4 blocks back. Then realised that even though they may not be ‘my’ colours, they looked great together and @thefabrichusband niece would LOVE them!
So, I made a few more blocks to make it into a nice lap rug size and gifted it to her for her birthday in late December. She LOVED it!
I put my blocks together a little differently than the pattern… I decided no sashing and on point. Just to be different!
And I had a few part blocks left over, so pieced them into the backing 🙂
The backing fabric was grey shot cotton from Spotlight…. it is so soft, it has become my favourite backing!
This make was part of my #2016FAL with @finishalong
I really like your decision to change the layout of the pattern and the addition of the extra blocks in the back is lovely as well. Congratulations on a great finish!
