Oh I have loved reading through Amy Sinibaldi & Kristyne Czepuryk’s new book Rainy Day Sewing!
I love Amy’s aesthetic and I started following her blog waaaay back and just loved everything she did….. and I still do! And Kristyne makes some equally as gorgeous things too!
This book is full of so many lovely patterns (18 of them!) that I spent a few days just browsing through desperately trying to narrow it down to just ONE pattern to make!! (spoiler alert, I made two!)
I finally selected the Portfolio Tote pattern for my main project as I have been looking for a bag to take my iPad safely (there is a padded interior divider) along with my notebook and this is just the perfect size for this!
And of course I had to use some of Amy’s gorgeous fabrics….. I have been stashing them away since her very first fabric release, Paperie. It was a little hard cutting into them, but I knew it was going to look so good!
I even managed to find some perfect ribbon to decorate the handles with in my stash!
One thing to note is that the template in the book is not quite the right size…. as with any endeavour that involves humans, mistakes can be made! Here are the dimensions of the correct triangle template.
I actually had an equilateral triangle ruler in my ruler stash (a great find as it made the cutting out very easy!) that I used, so I didn’t have to cut from a template.
For the interior I used the much-hoarded heart fabric from Paperie and the placement of the ‘once upon a time…’ was just perfect (and not planned!).
The middle divider is padded nicely to keep everything safe and this is going to become a favourite bag to use!
And those little umbrellas!! <3 all the heart eyes for them too 🙂
And yes, I did make a small second project that was part of my Mister Domestic blog tour recently…. the very cute pencil case!
Perfect for pencils, scissors and crochet hooks!
There have already been some amazing projects displayed during the book tour…. head on over and check out all the makes on Instagram (links are below).
