I went back and read the welcome to 2025 post and I was happy to see that I had managed to do some of the things I had wanted to do! Breathe. Rest. Relax. Not so many long sewalongs. More making. Finishing some Works In Progress (WIPs)!

My plans for 2026 include going to more sew days / retreats and conventions! I have booked for AQC in Melbourne for the four days and I am hoping to get into some good classes in Christchurch for the NZ Quilt Symposium and get there as well! I have also started to have regular sew days with some local friends which has been such a source of laughter and fun!
Going to NZ in early October might interfere with me getting to Raylee’s retreat just outside of Canberra in late September, but if you are looking for a fun retreat, check hers out! She has one in April and in September.
And of course, my retreat in Penola, South Australia in June is going to be fun!
The Show and Tell Sewalong in March will be lots of fun…. can’t wait for those kits to arrive!
The other thing I like to start the year off doing is a bit of a clean and tidy and declutter in my sewing room. I sign up with Just Get It Done Quilts for her declutter challenge so I get her daily emails and there are videos on YouTube as well.

This year I have decided that it is time to review the things that have started to encroach into the rest of the house…. under the guest bed and sun room bed I am looking at you!
I have a sneaking suspicion that my WIP count might just go up when I get everything out from under those beds!
Last year I had said I wanted to get my WIPs down to less than 10 and I didn’t achieve that. Probably because I kept adding to them!! But I did get them down to 12 so I was happy.
I will be doing the UFO Challenge with @jandidean on Instagram again this year as it was a focussing point for me and inspired me to GET STUFF DONE! If you want to join in too, just select 6 projects you want to work on this year and then head to her Instagram and her profile and sign up. Or go straight to the Google Form here.

My Six Projects are some more long term UFOs (or WIPs) are:

My Tula Nova EPP – I am stalled soooo close to being finished. But I don’t want to applique it onto a background, so I just need to pull up those big girl panties, make a decision and get it done!

Prudence EPP – I still need to make quite a few blocks which means my entire Tula stash will come out…. let’s just say that is messy!! But needs to be done. I hope to get this to a quilt top by the end of the year.

Sewing Pun Log Cabin quilt – I started this during 2025 and it has been a lovely, enjoyable project. But now I would like it done as it has been taking up a lot of space in my sewing room! Pieced sashing to make, pieced cornerstones to make, then quilt top, backing and quilting to go!
And three projects that just didn’t get done in 2025 but hopefully won’t take too long to get finished this year are:

Neighbourly quilt – I am piecing a backing from all the left over bits and scraps so this will take a bit of quilt maths!

Sunsets – this should be the first finished! Just need to sew one backing seam and then it is onto the longarm with it!

Maze and Vale small quilt – I have hummed and ha-ed long enough over whether to make this larger or not. I have decided not and to just get it quilted and finished!
Do you have any plans for quilts you want to make this year? Works In Progress that you want off your list?
