A Year Of Hearts – A Library of Hearts

By March 5, 2024March 24th, 2024A Year Of Hearts, blog

Last month’s block of Home Is Where The Heart Is really hit a chord with everyone… there were so many of these blocks made and shown in our Facebook Sewalong & Quilting Group as well as on Instagram! Thank you every one for sharing them.

This month we delve into another one of my loves… reading! Being in a cosy corner with books in the shelves behind me, a book in my hand (or more often lately, a Kindle), snuggled on a comfy chair with a cup of something warm next to me (and of course a quilt!) is just THE best way to relax.

So welcome to this month’s A Year Of Hearts Block – A Library Of Hearts

This is a fun block to really go to town on with selecting fabrics! The first block I made used lots of different gorgeous pinks, purples and corals with lots of different colours of hearts! I even snuck one book in that is a selvedge! Smol by Ruby Star Society looks lovely in my bookshelf!

My second block I just used pinks and used on the one red fabric for my hearts.

And I decided that only 3 small hearts looked better instead of the 4 in the pattern. I quite like this super pink library!

And then I was having so much fun, I grabbed out my selvedges and made a library of fabric collection ‘books’!

This block won’t be going in my A Year Of Hearts quilt, as I want to keep to pinks/corals/purples etc, but I just could not resist these fun selvedges!

It might be that this one needs to become a library bag for one of my great-nephews! Anyone want to read ‘A Field Guide’ by Janet Clare? Or perhaps ‘Front Yard’ by Sarah Watts? So many fun things in my selvedge tins….. I might need to start thinking about a full-on selvedge project soon.

So grab a copy of the Library Of Hearts PDF quilt pattern and start making your own library! This block was free to newsletter subscribers for the first few days of the month, so if you would like to get a free block next month, sign up to receive my newsletter!

This month’s video shows all these gorgeous blocks and talks about more of the fun happenings in the Quilt Barn
