This month I have combined the October AND the November blocks into one month for the Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along that I am doing in conjunction with the Fat Quarter Shop. We are onto the small blocks now, and once I started sewing them, I was on a roll and just kept on going!
{Please note there may be affiliate links in this blog – I get a small amount from FQS, your price is no different. This helps me to continue doing these sewalongs with you!}
And there won’t be a reveal blog or video at the end of October…. this month’s tips and tricks video not only talks about the blocks, but I show you them all too!
Here are my blocks : )
One thing I did forget about smaller blocks – they have smaller pieces in them! Sounds logical, but I had forgotten that smaller pieces require more precise cutting and seam allowances!
Even a small difference in your seam allowance adds up with all the seams of small pieces in a smaller block. So check your seam allowance and trim each section of your block to help you get a good size for the finished blocks.
These triangles are seriously tiny!!
And thank goodness the points don’t go all the way to the edge…. a little bit of wiggle room!
These pinwheel stars are a favourite – they look so pretty.
Did I mention seriously small pieces??! Happy that these blocks are all done now.
The last five blocks I forgot to take pictures of…. you will see them in November when I show how to put the sections together.
If you aren’t up for sewing all these blocks this month – you can definitely stick to the original schedule and do the 4″ blocks next month.
