Charity Sewing – Zippy Pouches

By July 24, 2019blog

The Said With Love Charity Sewing for 2019 / 2020 is for Shannon’s Bridge, a local charity that provides support around death, dying and grief. Read all about our charity sewing and more about Shannon’s Bridge HERE.

Shannon’s Bridge, as one of their support of families with ill family members, provides Carer’s Packs, which has lovely things such as a travelling mug, teas, chocolates, essential oils etc as a little pick-me-up for a carer of a long term or terminally ill family member.

They need sweet zippy pouches in which to put these things for their carer’s packs!

We decided that the Noodlehead Open Wide Pouch was the best design for these.

The size we need is the LARGE size – 11″ tall and 14″ wide (the mustard coloured one in the picture below)

And whilst the instructions suggest a 14″ zip, I find a slightly longer zip (16″) works a little better. And adding a little grab tab just below where you open the zip can also be great if you remember to add one in!

The fabrics for these can be anything! Lovely pretty fabrics as well as some more masculine ones. You can make them from one fabric, or many. You can use fusible fleece on the inside for a quick finish, or you can quilt the fabric with batting to your heart’s content!

When you are ready to send to me (or have any questions!), please contact me below and I’ll let you know where to send them.
