Join me, Kimberley from the Fat Quarter Shop and some other wonderful makers for a year long sewalong of Shelley Cavanna’s gorgeous Barn Star Sampler Quilt from her book!

Starting in January and going for the whole year, there will be two emails each month…one on the first Monday of the month about which block we are doing and any tips you need to know; the second on the last Friday of the month when I show my finished block(s) using the gorgeous Tula Pink fabrics.

And Kimberley will be sharing her progress at the end of the month too in her Friday live video.

The quilt finishes at 80″ x 100″ and it will look fabulous in a variety of fabrics! I am going to be using Tula Pink’s recent collections from Curiouser onwards.

How the Sew Along Will Work

SIGN UPS ARE NOW CLOSED to receive my emails the first Monday of each month and the last Friday of each month for 2023 and join in the Barn Star fun!

Please Note: you will also be signing up to receive my fortnightly normal newsletter as well, so please don’t unsubscribe from those until after the sew along is over!

You can also join our Facebook Sewalong & Quilting Group (please don’t forget to answer the member questions!) and then you can post the pictures of your blocks there. There are lots of wonderful people in our group that have a wealth of skills and knowledge, so don’t be afraid to ask a question!

The first block email will come out on Monday 2nd January but you will get a welcome email with fabric requirements as soon as you sign up!

Supplies

You will need to purchase the Barn Star Sampler quilt book and The Fat Quarter Shop has it and if it goes out of stock, they are constantly restocking it.  You can also purchase direct from the Author herself, Shelley Cavanna as an e-book or hardcopy. This is a big quilt, so it does take a lot of fabric… a half metre/ half yard bundle is a great place to start, as is of course your stash!

I am using Tula Pink’s recent collections for the sewalong… from Curiouser onwards along with some True Colours and her solids.

I have created a few starter bundle options for you if you would like to join me! (I will be offering more bundles early in the New Year)

The whole quilt requires something like  21 metres of fabric – but these starter bundles are a great way to add to your stash to get lots of variety for your sampler!

The Fat Quarter Shop also has a pack of foundation paper piecing pads to help you with the components of some of the blocks if you prefer to use that method. I will be showing you some of these as we go along.
